Sorry, that was my whole knowlegde of french, have to continue in english.

We are currently working on translating the pool of german maps on www.siedler-maps.de.
With help of BlueByte i was able to write a script that automatically selects the language of the game installation for the shown texts. Currently there is only one map offers this feature, "DieVerbannung", and only in german and english.
This System is very easy to use, and extremely fast in handling. So some of discussed to expand this system to more languages. Our first choice was french.

So the purpose of this post is to find someone who could help with expanding the script, (I have to check a simple Output from the game with a testmap on a french installation) and delivering a first translation for the mentioned map.

The Goal is to make available as much maps as possible for the international community.

and start it once. It should generate a text messages on screen in the game with one single word, the french expression for "Unreachable".

It will also write the correct spelling in the matching LogFile, it would be nice if you could send the LogFile or at least the copied line out if it that begins with "Zweispeer needs this Text:" to me or post it here.

you´ll find the file in your documents folder, there look for settlers, temp, logs.
The last one is the file (or the line out of it, near the end of the file) i need.

When this map prooves to be okay, i would be glad to explain how i did it. Sadly only in english or german, as i mentioned.

I hope that more german mappers will follow, or at least give they´re okay for a foreign translation.

Description of the map: Not yet, we are working on that.

Letters: I was afraid of that, have to extend a special function we have developed already for the german ÄÖÜ, there is the same problem.
Totally noob as i am, are there more candidates i have to look for to cover the french letters? I suggest i have to look for upper cases also?

Another update, i coded in the french letters, but forgot to activate this code. Really sorry. This time it should work, remember, i can´t test this settings, as they work only on french installations.

Now, it's ok fro the french characters.

Very fast test (only walking with the heros).

- First quest don't show the position of the objective on the minimap when receiving the quest.
- "Kloster St. Martin" is it possible to translate this text?
- When receiving the quest "Kloster...", shown objective on the minimap is the objective of the first quest, but "magnifyier" shows the good one.
- I noticed that I did'nt translate all "DESC =" directive. Must they be translated?

Some difficulties with the direction markers are the result of patch 1.5, but i will look after them.

No, the Names cannot be translated yet, we didn´t find a way to that. Only way is to give more Language neutral names.

Desc: No, not in this map. But with Patch 1.5 it is possible for some goals, to set the shown text in the box under the face and the name for the quest shown in he quest log. To acchieve this, one must fill the description field with

Name ~ BoxText

That wasn´t used in this map, so it was okay to leave them untranslated.

Tested the map, not very easy.

There is an error in text for the quest with signal fire:
Success = "Hello, my ships can´t reach the harbor because the signal fire are out. When you light them again, i can trade rare goods to you",
Success = "Bonjour, mes bateaux ne peuvent pas atteindre le port parce que les feux de signalisation sont éteints. Lorsqu'ils seront allumés, je pourrai vous vendre des denrées rares.",

This quest (signal fire) doesn't show a questflag on the left of the screen.

"Hors d'atteinte !": Is an intern localised Message i use to determine which language the original game uses by default. I don´t need another translation their, to be specific i MUST use this one.
What i do is:
I ask the game for the string it will show when you try to set a building on a place that the worker can´t reach.
The Answer depends on which language is installed, and this changes the used language in my script.

"Start = "A cause du tribut[...]": I don´t see what you want in this one, didn´t find any changes you made. Help me!....;-)

"Start = " Il affirme que les [...]" Here i found the changes, but let me make the sense of the message clearer before this results in confusion:

The player can find a single soldier hiding in the wood. If he does so, the soldier tells him somethings.
Because i have no free ID in the game to let the deserteur speak himself, i have to use the Players hero to tell what he have heard from the deserteur:
That there is a special unit that guards the Prison where alandra is kept. This unit was set there by thordal and "forgotten" by him. He didn´t deliver enough food or meat and other things. So that unit doesn´t like to serve under thordal any more. They look for a better Leader. They will follow only a hero who has the highest rank in the game, archduke and, as they very thirsty, this hero has to have 50 mead (hydromel) in stock in his settlement. (So he doesn´t have to deliver it somewhere, he just have to built enough tavernes to stock 50 mead at any time)

The essence of this has to be transported by the message. I can´t judge which of the both forms does that better, but i suspect that both of you at least wrote something about "delivering" the mead, which would be false.


Libhou2007:

I have corrected the error in the text, but not uploaded yet in case we find some more errors.

I also will put in another quest to show the questflag for the signalfires, but only the first time you have to light them.

If so, cloister or heros should speak and not the architect.

Map design (not very important): from where come the ships of the vikings and the
